Simplify UAE Product Registration and Compliance with Expert Guidance

We help manufacturers, importers, and distributors register products in the UAE quickly and lawfully—ensuring regulatory compliance, faster approvals, and safe market entry with MoIAT, Dubai Municipality, and other authorities.

Product Registration

  • Product registration is the mandatory initial step and cornerstone for any entity seeking to lawfully introduce goods into the UAE market, ensuring legal access for manufacturers, distributors, and importers.
  •
  • The core objective is the stringent assurance of consumer health and safety. Registration verifies that every product complies with rigorous national standards, acting as a crucial defense against the sale of counterfeited or substandard items, thereby securing market integrity. Only successfully registered products are legally permitted for sale in all retail channels.
  •
  • The process is managed by specialized agencies based on product category: the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) governs electronics and consumer goods via its ECAS/EQM schemes; the Dubai Municipality (DM) regulates food items, cosmetics, and detergents; and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) handles medical devices and health supplements. This multi-layered oversight increases transparency and accountability, protecting consumers while strategically strengthening the UAE’s position as a trustworthy hub for global trade.

ESMA/MoIAT Product Certification: ECAS & EQM Explained

The UAE has two main conformity schemes run under the supervision of MoIAT (the successor of ESMA):

CE Marking Certification: Relevance in the UAE

CE Marking is required for a product to meet standards for safety, health, and environmental protection applicable to sale in the member states of the European Economic Area (EEA).

Although not substitutive for UAE certifications, CE marking is widely considered to be complimentary. For the above, if any electronics or toys or medical devices are taken into consideration, documentation in compliance with CE requirements acts as an aid to test and approve such products in the UAE.

    What’s CE Marking:

    ⍟ Product Compliance after Registration

The following procedures to be observed after registration and/or certification of a product:

    • (a) Ensure shelf-life and recall management is in place.
    • (b) Shelf-life and recall management should be ensured.
    • (c) Renew certificates prior to expiry.
    • (d) Update packaging or ingredients with official approval

    Non-compliance can lead to:

    • (a) Product bans
    • (b) Administrative fines
    • (c)Revocation/Cancelation of trade license

⍟ Timeline for Registration and Certification

Typically, the process takes 2 to 6 weeks, depending on:

    • (a) Product class
    • (b) Correctness of the documentation
    • (c) Responsiveness of the regulatory authority

Depending on QMS review and site audit, EQM certification could take longer.

If you’re ready to enter the UAE market, get your products registered the right way—compliantly, confidently, and competitively.
