Oman Extends Residency Card Validity to 10 Years, marking a major shift in expat policy and long-term stability for foreign residents. The Royal Oman Police (ROP) has issued Decision No. 157/2025, amending the Executive Regulations of the Civil Status Law to significantly increase the maximum validity for expatriate residency cards from 3 years to up to 10 years.
Under the updated regulations, residency card validity can extend up to 10 years depending on categories defined by the ROP Director General. Cardholders must renew their residency within 30 days of expiry, ensuring compliance. The issuance or renewal fee is set at 5 Omani riyals per year—for example, 50 OMR for a 10-year card—while replacing a lost or damaged card will cost 20 OMR.
This change aims to ease administrative processes and offer greater stability to expatriates living in Oman. It also supports the country’s strategy to attract skilled professionals. Earlier in August 2025, the validity options were revised to 1–3 years, and this latest update further builds on those reforms.
Additionally, a visa amnesty scheme remains active until December 31, 2025, enabling overstayers to regularise their status or exit the country without fines. Expatriates are encouraged to check eligibility and application guidelines via the official ROP portal.
With Oman Extends Residency Card Validity to 10 Years, the nation reinforces its commitment to creating a welcoming and long-term environment for talented global professionals.
